Biography

Mark Edwards creative practice engages the fantastical mystical surrealist world of his imagination. This make believe world is a faraway cosmic planet where creatures and supernatural realms are constructed. Fantastical stories evolve and are conveyed through the medium of gestural and figurative drawing, painting, video and sculptural work. Delving deep into the subconscious mind where the unspoken world informs the narrative.

Currently Mark lives in Melbourne Australia. Mark is an early-career artist having received a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University of Melbourne (R.M.I.T), Australia, 2018;

A Bachelor of Fine Arts (1st class Honours), R.M.I.T., Melbourne, Australia, 2019; and in 2022 by course work a, Masters of Fine Arts. from R.M.I.T., Melbourne, Australia.

Recent awards include The Australian Decorative & Fine Arts Society (Yarra Branch), Young or Emerging Artist Award, Outstanding Masters of Fine Arts painting and drawing Graduate, 2021;

Bachelor of Fine Arts Sculpture Anna Schwatz Prize, and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, 2018.
